Tragedy in New York: Young Dominican woman loses her life after being thrown from a 15th floor
A heartbreaking event has shocked the Dominican community abroad. Natalie Ramírez, a 23-year-old young woman, passed away after falling from the fifteenth floor of a residential building in the Bronx, New York, in an incident that has been classified as an act of gender-based violence. The event occurred in the early hours of last Friday at 2550 Orville Avenue.
According to reports presented on Alofoke Deportes, residents of the housing complex witnessed an intense argument prior to the tragedy. Witnesses claimed to have heard the victim pleading for the life of her eight-month-old daughter, who was with her at the time of the attack. Fortunately, the infant survived the fall and was rushed to a hospital, where medical teams managed to stabilize her health condition.
Investigation and perpetrator details
Police authorities managed to identify and capture Ángel Carrasco, the victim’s ex-partner, who appears on the building’s security cameras ascending in the elevator carrying a bladed weapon and with his face covered. According to investigations, Carrasco had a history of gender-based violence and showed up at Ramírez’s apartment with the intention of forcing a reconciliation, which was rejected by the young woman.
You have to make that closure either by phone, or simply not do it; let God take care of putting the final period.
Norisbel UcetaCall for prevention and reflection on violence
The Alofoke Deportes analyst team delved into the risks involved in farewell dates or attempts to seek “closure” with violent partners. Norisbel Uceta emphasized the importance of identifying red flags from the early stages of a relationship:
- At the first sign of verbal abuse or lack of respect, it is imperative to prioritize personal safety and remove yourself from the dangerous environment.
- Statistics confirm that ex-partners are the primary aggressors, which underscores the need not to underestimate intuition when faced with hostile behavior.
- Education and emotional maturity are fundamental to accepting the end of a relationship without resorting to violence.
Ernesto Jiménez, a space analyst, called for male rationality, urging men to accept their partners’ decisions. “The intelligent action is simply to understand that if that woman does not want to be with you, she must go her own way and you yours. Learning to let go is the only mature and rational stance to avoid fatal outcomes,” he pointed out.
The case, which has left a minor orphaned of her mother and with her father in police custody, serves as a painful reminder of the urgency of eradicating violence against women and the importance of seeking professional help in situations of harassment or excessive control.
