Christopher Melenciano receives new home after outstanding sports career

The prominent Dominican athlete Christopher Melenciano has seen one of his greatest dreams come true upon formally receiving the keys to his new home. The medalist, recognized for his discipline and perseverance, now has a decent and safe home, a benefit he shares with his mother, Marisol Reyes, after having exposed the precarious housing situation in which they were living.

The delivery of the property was led by the Minister of Housing and Buildings, Jean Luis Rodríguez, in a ceremony attended by the Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz. The new apartment, designed to provide well-being to the family, consists of three bedrooms, two bathrooms, living and dining areas, in addition to having security and access control systems.

There is a commitment that the President made, the commitment to provide a home to Christopher, and you have to help us make that happen as quickly as possible.

For his part, Kelvin Cruz highlighted that this gesture is a well-deserved recognition of Melenciano’s career, whose tenacity on the track has held the flag of the Dominican Republic high. The athlete, who has a hearing impairment, expressed his deep gratitude through a sign language interpreter, describing the new space as a necessary relief after having faced serious leakage issues in his previous residence in the Capotillo sector.

A career of international successes

Christopher Melenciano’s track record is a testament to resilience and talent. His performance has been key in various international scenarios:

  • Gold and silver medalist at the 2022 Deaflympics.
  • Protagonist in world deaf athletics competitions during 2024.
  • Member of the team that won gold in the mixed 4×400 meters relay at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, sharing the team with figures such as Marileidy Paulino, Erick Sánchez, and Anabel Medina.

With the acquisition of this home, the Dominican athlete closes a chapter of uncertainty and prepares to continue representing the country with his focus set on his next sporting challenges, now enjoying the peace of mind of a stable family environment.
