Rashee Rice Sentenced After Car Accident
Kansas City Chiefs star wide receiver Rashee Rice has been sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years of probation, according to sources. The court decision stems from his involvement in a multiple-vehicle car accident that occurred last year.
A Dallas judge determined that Rice can serve his sentence at any time during the five-year probation period. In addition, Rice received a deferred adjudication, which means the case will be dismissed if he completes probation.
The NFL can now expedite its disciplinary process against Rice, who will likely receive a multi-game suspension during the upcoming 2025 season.
Police reported that Rice was driving 119 mph in a Lamborghini SUV shortly before the May 30, 2024, accident in Dallas. He was facing one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury, and six counts of collision involving injury.
Rice, 25, suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in Week 4 of last season and missed the rest of the Chiefs’ AFC Championship campaign. The Chiefs expect the former second-round draft pick to be healthy when training camp begins next week.
