National survey reveals high appreciation for Luis Abinader’s administration

A recent measurement conducted by Markestrategia has highlighted citizen sentiment regarding the administration of President Luis Abinader. According to data collected during the first days of October, 57.3% of those surveyed rate the president’s trajectory positively, consolidating a favorable perception of his public figure.

The study, which included a representative sample of 1,200 citizens, places the general approval of the government’s management at 52.4%. When breaking down these indicators, the report highlights that 55.7% of respondents value the presidential performance as positive, combining responses that rate their work as “very good” or “good”.

Perception of the country’s direction and future optimism

When asked about the direction the Dominican Republic is heading under the current administration, 51% of participants stated that the country is on the right track. However, this sentiment shows significant variations depending on the demographic group:

  • Over 50 years old: 59.6% consider the country’s direction to be correct.
  • Young people (18 to 29 years old): 45.5% perceive a positive direction, while 48.5% hold the opposite opinion.

Despite the divisions in the current vision, optimism predominates when looking toward the future: 58.8% of the population maintains a positive expectation about what is to come for the nation, far exceeding the sector that is pessimistic.

Citizen security: A central issue

The fight against crime has become one of the pillars with the greatest support within public opinion. The survey results provide compelling data on security management:

74.8% of citizens rate the Government’s actions against crime as positive, while a resounding 88.6% support the authorities’ stance on the voluntary surrender of those pursued by justice.

Although there is strong support for the actions of the National Police, insecurity remains the number one concern for 30.2% of respondents, ranking above economic challenges such as unemployment and the cost of the basic food basket.

Political landscape towards 2028

Finally, the study reveals a clear distinction between the president’s popularity and the political future of his organization. Regarding the possibility of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) remaining in power after the 2028 elections, opinions are divided, with 42.3% of those surveyed leaning toward the belief that the group will not manage to remain in control of the State.
