Manuel Jiménez presents book on his municipal management in Santo Domingo Este
The former mayor of Santo Domingo Este and leader of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), Manuel Jiménez, officially presented his work titled “What was not said: the municipal management they could not bury.” This book compiles the experiences, challenges, and lessons learned during his administration at the head of the city council in the 2020-2024 period.
The event, held in the Juan Bosch hall of the National Library, featured a prominent political presence, including President Luis Abinader, former President Hipólito Mejía, the Mayor of the National District, Carolina Mejía, and Senator Antonio Taveras, along with various figures from the social and diplomatic spheres.
A look at management and transparency
During his speech, Jiménez emphasized that the purpose of the work is to serve as a reference for future public officials, detailing the strategies implemented to overcome the administrative and financial obstacles encountered at the beginning of his administration in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The book tells how we were able to solve all those problems and get out of there without being imprisoned.

The text, structured in 15 chapters, analyzes key topics for municipal administration, such as:
- Optimization of municipal collection mechanisms.
- Transparent management of public finances.
- Construction and rehabilitation projects for cultural spaces and parks.
- Training of personnel in state procurement and contracting.
Jiménez especially highlighted the increase in the council’s collections, managing to raise monthly income from 10 million to 40 million pesos through the strengthening of legal and administrative procedures. The former mayor reaffirmed his conviction that politics should be an exercise of service and social commitment, where transparency is the fundamental pillar to guarantee citizen well-being.
The work has the intellectual endorsement of municipalist Julián Roa, who wrote the prologue, and a liminal text by Manuel Salazar, an expert in public policy. With this publication, Jiménez seeks to leave a historical record of his time as Mayor of Santo Domingo Este, documenting the lessons learned during his term.
