The PRM prepares to proclaim its new authorities at the XXIV National Convention
The Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) has formally summoned its delegates and special guests for the closing ceremony of its XXIV Ordinary National Convention 2026, which bears the name “Orlando Jorge Mera”. The event, organized by the National Internal Elections Commission (CNEI), will take place this Sunday, September 6, at 9:00 in the morning at the San Carlos Sports Club, in Santo Domingo.
New leadership at the head of the organization
During the day, the swearing-in of the new leadership team that will guide the destiny of the political organization will be made official. Among the prominent appointments is Luis Abinader Corona, who will assume the presidency of the party; Juan Garrigó, as secretary general; and Deligne Ascención Burgos, as first national vice president.
In addition to these key positions, the event will serve to proclaim and swear in various officials within the party structure, including:
- National vice presidents and undersecretaries.
- Authorities of territorial and foreign bodies.
- Representatives of the Sectoral, Women’s, and Youth Fronts.
- National secretaries and directors.
The PRM is heading towards a new stage in its political history, consolidating itself at 11 years since its founding as the most significant force in the country following the success achieved in two consecutive electoral tournaments.
Consolidation and future vision
This transition marks the closing of the cycle led by José Ignacio Paliza and Carolina Mejía, who served as president and secretary general, respectively. The organization seeks to strengthen its internal transformation processes in light of the political challenges ahead.
The event logistics include opening doors starting at 8:00 A.M. to facilitate access for the summoned delegates. The ceremony is expected to begin promptly at 9:00 A.M., at which time Luis Abinader will deliver a keynote speech to outline the vision and guidelines that will mark his administration during this new term at the head of the ruling party.
