Sinner Could Retain Cahill After Wimbledon Triumph

The Wimbledon title could mean that Jannik Sinner keeps Darren Cahill as one of his coaches beyond this season, after winning the friendly bet they made before Sunday’s final at the All England Club. In January, as Sinner was on his way to winning the Australian Open, it was announced that Cahill would leave his position as one of the two coaches of the world’s number one player at the end of 2025. After Sinner defeated Carlos Alcaraz 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 to win the championship at Wimbledon on Sunday, Cahill was asked if he would reconsider the decision to leave the team.

We had a bet before the final. He said: “If you win tomorrow, you can decide whether I stay or not.” Now the choice is mine. I have always looked for a person who is honest, a person who brings me a lot, not necessarily just on the tennis court, but (about) how to live.

Sinner continued by saying that he would love for Cahill to stay. Sinner also acknowledged that if Cahill were to continue working alongside co-coach Simone Vagnozzi, he would likely not travel on tour as much as he currently does.
