INTRANT announces the 9th edition of the 2026 National Sustainable Mobility Week

The National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (INTRANT) has made official the celebration of the 9th edition of the National Sustainable Mobility Week 2026. This event, which will take place from September 22 to 29, seeks to transform travel habits in the Dominican Republic through a series of activities focused on efficiency, road safety, and environmental care.

The initiative, which is part of national efforts to modernize the transport system, has the strategic support of the Support Program for the Implementation of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan of Greater Santo Domingo (AIPMUS).

The transformation of mobility requires planning, cooperation, and a people-centered vision. The support of our international allies allows us to strengthen the country’s capabilities and continue advancing toward a more integrated, safe, inclusive, and sustainable transport system.

Juan Manuel Méndez García, Executive Director of INTRANT.

Schedule of activities and specialized forums

The official program kicks off on Tuesday, September 22nd, with World Car-Free Day, highlighting a day of coexistence and interactive activities at Loyola School. Subsequently, at the INFOTEP Auditorium, the technical course on Sustainable Mobility will be presented, marking a milestone in the training of professionals in the sector.

Among the week’s highlights are:

  • Forum in Santo Domingo: On Wednesday the 23rd, at the Embassy Suites Hotel, progress on the Integrated Public Transport System (SITP), electric mobility, and sustainable street design will be discussed.
  • Meeting in Santiago: On Friday the 25th, the Santiago City Hall will host an analysis of the development of the integrated transport system in the “Ciudad Corazón.”
  • Moviclaje: Starting Thursday the 25th, citizens will be able to exchange plastic bottles for transport cards, incentivizing recycling and the use of the public system.
