Tokito Oda crowned champion at Wimbledon

Japanese tennis player Tokito Oda won his second Wimbledon title after defeating his main rival, British Alfie Hewett, the defending champion, in the men’s wheelchair singles final.

The final score was 3-6, 7-5, 6-2 in favor of Oda in a match played this Sunday.

Oda and Hewett have dominated the circuit, accumulating the last 10 Grand Slam titles between them. This final represented their seventh encounter in this type of instance.

In the first set, Oda suffered four breaks, but managed to save both break points he faced in the decisive set, clinching his fourth match point.

This is the sixth Grand Slam title for 19-year-old Oda. Hewett, 27, was looking for his eleventh title.

For Hewett, this was his second defeat in a final in two days, as he also lost the doubles final alongside Gordon Reid.
