Inclusive Games DR 2026: A decisive boost for adapted sports
The Dominican Republic is preparing for an unprecedented sporting event. The 2026 RD Inclusive Games have received official backing from President Luis Abinader, establishing themselves as a fundamental platform for the integration and development of more than 500 athletes with disabilities from across the national territory.
This initiative not only seeks to make local talent visible, but will also serve as the qualifying filter to structure the Dominican delegation that will represent the country in the upcoming Special Olympics World Summer Games, to be held in Chile in 2027.
We faithfully believe in sports as a tool to generate opportunities, promote inclusion, and recognize the talent of people with disabilities. These Inclusive Games DR 2026 will allow hundreds of athletes to demonstrate their capabilities and proudly carry the name of the Dominican Republic on the road to Chile 2027.

An inter-institutional effort for inclusion
The project is the result of joint work between various state entities and organizations dedicated to inclusion. The Organizing Committee is made up of:
- Special Olympics Dominican Republic.
- National Council on Disability (CONADIS).
- Ministry of Sports and Recreation (MIDEREC).
- Ministry of Education (MINERD), through its Directorate of Special Education.
- National Institute of Physical Education (INEFI).
During the meeting where government support was made official, key figures were present such as Benny Metz, president of CONADIS; Kelvin Cruz, Minister of Sports; and Rafael Díaz, executive director of Special Olympics DR, who highlighted the importance of these games to promote equal opportunities in the sports field.
Towards international projection
The 2026 RD Inclusive Games are not just a local competition; they represent a national strategy to raise the competitive level of athletes with disabilities. By identifying and projecting emerging talent in various provinces, the country seeks to strengthen its presence in the Special Olympics movement globally.
With this event, the Dominican Republic reaffirms its commitment to building a more equitable society, where sport acts as the primary engine to break down barriers and celebrate the capabilities of every athlete on their path to international success.
