Ryan Poles Secures His Future with the Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears and their general manager, Ryan Poles, have agreed to a contract extension that will keep him in Chicago for the next five years, until the 2029 season. This agreement ensures the continuity of Poles in the team’s management. Poles had two years remaining on his previous contract, but now the Bears have him and new head coach Ben Johnson, both under contract for five seasons. Since his arrival in 2022, Poles has overseen a large-scale reconstruction in Chicago. A key point was the exchange of the first pick of the 2023 draft to the Carolina Panthers, in exchange for wide receiver DJ Moore and four draft picks. This strategic move positioned the Bears to select quarterback Caleb Williams in the following draft. Poles also hired Johnson this offseason, marking the beginning of a new era for the Bears, centered around their franchise quarterback. Johnson was the offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions for the last three seasons and replaces Matt Eberflus, who was fired on November 29th.
