Danilo Medina strengthens the ranks of the PLD with 1,150 new members in Barahona
The former President of the Republic and leader of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Danilo Medina, led a massive assembly this Saturday in the province of Barahona. The event served as the setting for the swearing-in of 1,150 new members, marking a significant step in the territorial reorganization strategy that the purple organization is promoting nationwide.
The day was not only focused on attracting new followers, but also on internal strengthening through the “Back Home” program, an initiative designed to facilitate the return of former militants who had distanced themselves from the party ranks and who have now decided to reintegrate into the political activities of the PLD.
Top leadership supports party expansion
Medina was accompanied by a high-level representation of the Political Committee, reaffirming the party’s unity in this growth process. Among the prominent figures who attended the event are:
- Johnny Pujols, Secretary General of the PLD.
- Mayobanex Escoto, Secretary of Organization.
- Zoraima Cuello, Vice President of the organization.
- Jaime David Fernández Mirabal, former Vice President of the Republic.

A constant growth strategy
This activity in Barahona is part of an intensive work agenda that Danilo Medina has developed during the last quarter. The objective is clear: to revitalize the base and intermediate committees throughout the country. The expansion dynamic has had previous strategic stops in provinces such as Bahoruco, where 600 people joined, and Independencia, with the addition of 200 new members, highlighting a notable presence of young people.
In addition to the provincial tours, the former president’s office in Santo Domingo has maintained a steady pace of swearing-in ceremonies, attracting relevant political figures, such as former congresswoman Ivannia Rivera and former mayor of Guayabal, Úrsula Batista. With these actions, the PLD seeks to consolidate its structure in the face of future electoral challenges and recover its positioning among the Dominican electorate.
