Banco Popular Dominicano has consolidated its position as a benchmark in the country’s financial transformation. As of the end of August 2026, the financial institution reported an accumulated turnover exceeding RD$60 billion through its digital wallets, achieving a significant impact on its customers’ consumption habits.

With a total of 33.1 million transactions carried out under this modality, Banco Popular positions itself at the forefront of the sector, holding a 34.60% market share. This success responds to a strategy focused on providing agile, secure, and highly accessible payment solutions through mobile devices.

Unprecedented year-on-year growth

The evolution in the use of digital tools by Popular users has been exponential. When comparing the results from August 2025, when the accumulated billing was RD$20.4 billion, with current figures, an impressive year-on-year growth of 194% is evident.

The increase in transaction volume and the mass adoption of these platforms reflect how technology is redefining the way Dominicans manage their daily payments, prioritizing security and immediacy.

Constant innovation in payment methods

The institution has maintained a pioneering role in the implementation of contactless payment technologies. The progressive integration of these services has been key to its success:

  • Garmin Pay: Available since April 2022.
  • Google Pay: Integrated as of November 2023.
  • Apple Pay: Incorporated in August 2024.

These solutions allow users to link their debit and credit cards to compatible smartphones and watches. Each transaction features robust authentication mechanisms, ensuring the protection of the cardholder’s data at all times.

Looking to the future, Banco Popular reaffirms its commitment to continue promoting the digital ecosystem, reducing dependence on cash, and fostering a more efficient, modern economy adapted to the technological needs of its clients at Alofoke Deportes.
