Traffic chaos on the V Centenario Expressway after semi-truck overturns
A serious traffic accident was recorded this Wednesday at the V Centenario Expressway underpass, near the intersection of San Martín and John F. Kennedy avenues, when a semi-truck loaded with steel rods lost control and ended up overturned on the road. The incident caused massive traffic congestion that affected the normal flow of drivers in the area.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:00 in the afternoon, while the heavy vehicle was traveling in a west-east direction. After the rollover, the metal cargo was scattered across a large part of the roadway, which complicated the cleaning and clearing efforts in the area. According to reports, the truck is linked to the Pedro Brand Cargo Truckers Association.
Assistance tasks and traffic status
Following the incident, agents from the General Directorate of Traffic and Land Transportation Safety (Digesett) arrived at the scene to manage traffic and prevent further incidents while removal operations were underway. Despite the magnitude of the accident and the time elapsed, more than four hours later, the semi-trailer and part of the material were still obstructing the path, prolonging difficulties for those traveling along the major thoroughfare.
Fortunately, no injuries have been reported as a result of the rollover. Authorities are keeping the investigation open to determine the exact causes that led the driver to lose control of the heavy vehicle.
So far, security agencies have not issued a final report on the specific circumstances that caused the accident, while assistance teams continue working to fully restore traffic.
