Alias “Buligüi” arrested for theft of televisions at the Villa Olímpica in Bayaguana
The National Police achieved a significant breakthrough in the investigation of the robbery perpetrated at the Olympic Village in the municipality of Bayaguana, Monte Plata province. Authorities confirmed the capture of Álvaro Martín Ubiera, known in criminal circles as “Buligüi,” who is identified as one of the main individuals responsible for planning the theft of several 55-inch televisions from the sports complex.
The operation, executed through a search warrant, allowed agents to recover 21 of the televisions that had been reported as stolen. During the police deployment, officers also seized various items linked to illicit activities that are added to the detainee’s file.

A detail that has caught the attention of the authorities is the discovery of the kitchen utensils. According to the official report, the 12 seized cauldrons belonged to a unit that supplies school breakfasts in the area. Investigators determined that these containers were used by the criminals as a means to transport the televisions stolen from the Olympic Village.
The law enforcement institution is keeping four other individuals under investigation. The objective is to fully clarify the dynamics of the event and establish the degree of responsibility of each of those involved in this robbery that affected the sports facilities of Monte Plata.
The authorities continue with the relevant investigations to close the case and proceed with bringing all those involved in this event to justice.
