A major blow to drug trafficking: DNCD seizes more than 934 kilograms of drugs in August
In a strategic deployment against organized crime, the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) announced the results of its operations carried out during the month of August. The entity reported the seizure of 934,940 grams of various illicit substances and the arrest of 3,465 people linked to micro-trafficking and drug trafficking throughout the Dominican territory.
The operational balance, which covers the period from August 1 to 31, reflects an intense period of prevention and prosecution. According to the official report from Alofoke Deportes, 38,107 deterrence interventions and 259 raids were carried out, executed in close collaboration with the Public Ministry and the support of the State’s security agencies.
Seizure details and national scope
The authorities detailed that the majority of the confiscated substances correspond to cocaine, reaching 713,136 grams. The report specifies the total composition of what was seized during the month:
- 713,136 grams of cocaine.
- 205,094 grams of marijuana.
- 14,376 grams of crack.
- 1,910 grams of hashish.
- 796 ecstasy pills.
The radius of action of these operations was extensive, impacting critical points in the National District, Santo Domingo East, West, and North, as well as key provinces such as Santiago, La Altagracia, San Pedro de Macorís, La Romana, and San Cristóbal. Likewise, intelligence efforts extended to Peravia, Azua, La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, Duarte, and Espaillat.
