Santo Domingo.- The National Institute of Physical Education (Inefi) announced the construction of a modern covered sports complex at the Deportivo y Cultural del Barrio Puerto Rico Club, known as “Los Dinámicos”, located in the Los Mina sector. This initiative is part of the institution’s commitment to the promotion of school and community sports. The main objective is to create a suitable and functional space for the development of sports and cultural activities, promoting integration, healthy entertainment, and the comprehensive training of the community’s youth.
Importance of the Project
The announcement was made during a visit to the club by the executive director of INEFI, Alberto Rodríguez Mella, accompanied by the consul general of the Dominican Republic in New Jersey, José Francisco Santana, as well as councilors, sports leaders and community members from the eastern zone of the province.“We are fulfilling our commitment to bring opportunities to every corner of the country. This new sports center will be a meeting and development point for the youth of Los Mina,” expressed Rodríguez Mella.
Alberto Rodríguez Mella, Executive Director of INEFIRodríguez Mella highlighted the importance of continuing to enable safe and inclusive spaces for the practice of sports. This work represents the second indoor sports center announced by INEFI in Santo Domingo Este, adding to the one already planned at the San Vicente de Paúl School, as part of a national strategy to strengthen school and community sports infrastructure. With these projects, INEFI reaffirms its mission to promote a physical culture that contributes to the well-being, discipline, and values formation of children and adolescents throughout the country. Last Sunday, the decentralized organization carried out a day of the “INEFI with the Barrio” program in the Los Tres Brazos sector, also in Santo Domingo Este. The activity included a dental operation and sports competitions in 3×3 basketball, volleyball, vitilla, badminton, and chess, aimed at the young athletes of the community, in an initiative that strengthens institutional closeness with the neighborhoods and promotes sport as a tool for social transformation.
