Betty Gerónimo boosts the academic future of 800 young people in Santo Domingo Norte
The mayor of Santo Domingo Norte, Betty Gerónimo, reaffirmed her commitment to the municipality’s youth by leading the first graduation of the Well-being, Triumph, and Momentum (BTI) program. This project not only celebrated the completion of the school stage for 800 students but also guaranteed access to 750 scholarships to continue technical and university studies.
The central objective of this initiative is to eliminate the economic barriers that often truncate the professional development of young people after finishing high school. As the mayor explained, the municipal administration seeks to provide peace of mind to families, ensuring that graduates have a clear path toward higher education.
Strategic alliances for education
To make this educational drive a reality, the Mayor’s Office of Santo Domingo Norte has established agreements with important institutions. Among the prominent allies are the Technological Institute of the Americas (ITLA) and the Caribbean University (Unicaribe).
- ITLA will provide 140 continuing education scholarships for students with academic excellence.
- Beneficiaries will be able to select from more than 100 training programs.
- The program covers students from educational districts 10-01 and 10-02, as well as students from the Prepara modality.
It is not just about making their dream of having their graduation party come true, but about ensuring peace of mind for their families through real opportunities for professional growth.

A program with a social focus
The BTI program has accompanied the youth since the beginning of the school year, providing logistical support that included everything from photo sessions to the delivery of caps and gowns. The mayor, who shared that in her youth she could not afford her own graduation party due to financial limitations, stressed that this project has deep personal and sentimental value for her administration.
As part of the incentives, the Mayor’s Office announced a special recognition for the student with the highest academic excellence, who will receive an SUV as a reward for their dedication. With these actions, Betty Gerónimo’s administration positions education as the fundamental pillar for the sustainable development of Santo Domingo Norte.
