Tatis Jr. Shines in Padres’ Victory Over Rangers
San Diego, USA – Fernando Tatis Jr. continued to demonstrate his value, leading the San Diego Padres to a crucial 4-1 victory over the Texas Rangers in the closing of the series played this Sunday at Petco Park.
The Dominican outfielder, recently selected for the National League All-Star Game for the third time, had an outstanding performance, being fundamental in the team’s offense.
Tatis Jr. scored the tying run in the third inning and hit a run-scoring double in the fourth, driving in the lead for the Padres. The player reached base four times during the game, solidifying his excellent moment.
In the fourth inning, with two runners on base and two outs, Tatis hit a double that sent Trenton Brooks home, putting the score at 2-1. Martín Maldonado tried to score from first, but was called out after a review.
Previously, in the third inning, Tatis received a walk, stole second base, and scored thanks to a single by Luis Arraez.
San Diego’s offensive continued with RBIs by Maldonado in the sixth and Jake Cronenworth in the seventh, extending the lead and securing the series.
Rookie David Morgan allowed Texas’ only run in the first inning, but got out of a jam thanks to a defensive play by Cronenworth with the bases loaded.
Kyle Hart (3-2) earned the win in relief, while closer Robert Suárez earned his 25th save, tying for the league lead.
