Euro 2025: Soccer scoreboards conquer Switzerland, tournament atmosphere!

The tournament fever is felt in Switzerland, even when crossing the street. Fans traveling to Switzerland for Euro 2025 will encounter a football twist in the city: themed traffic lights with a woman kicking a ball. The authorities in the Swiss city of Basel have installed 12 of these modified pedestrian lights in places frequented by football fans during the tournament, which lasts almost a month.

Some of these lights are located near St. Jakob-Park, the venue for the host nation’s opening match, where Switzerland was defeated 2-1 by Norway. However, Switzerland has managed to keep their hopes alive in the tournament, beating Iceland 2-0.

They will stay until the end of the Women’s Euro, maybe even a few more days.

Ryf-Stocker explained that the idea and design were provided by the civil engineering department of St. Gallen, and the lights were manufactured by the same company that produces the traffic lights of Basel. Basel will host the final of the tournament on July 27.
