Kansas City Royals Move Daniel Lynch IV to Injured List
The Kansas City Royals have placed left-handed pitcher Daniel Lynch IV on the 15-day injured list due to left elbow nerve irritation.
In a corresponding move, the Royals called up right-handed pitcher Jonathan Bowlan from Triple-A Omaha.
Lynch, 28, threw a scoreless inning on Saturday, allowing two walks with one strikeout in the 7-1 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks.
His record is 3-2 with one save, an ERA of 2.59, 22 walks, and 29 strikeouts in 41⅔ innings during 39 games (two starts).
The Royals selected Lynch in the first round (34th overall) of the 2018 MLB draft from the University of Virginia. He has a record of 16-25 with two saves, an ERA of 4.62, 135 walks, and 279 strikeouts in 337 innings during 106 games (56 starts) in parts of five seasons.
Bowlan, also 28 years old, has a 1-1 record with an ERA of 3.00, seven walks and 12 strikeouts in 15 innings during 12 relief appearances for Kansas City this season. In his career, he has a 1-3 record with an ERA of 4.35, 10 walks and 18 strikeouts in 20⅔ innings during 15 games (two starts) in parts of three seasons.
Has a 2-0 record with three saves, an ERA of 1.90, six walks, and 30 strikeouts in 23⅔ innings during 17 appearances in Omaha. Kansas City selected Bowlan in the second round of the 2018 draft out of Memphis.
