Jamal Musiala Suffers Fracture and Will Be Out for a Long Period

Bayern Munich has confirmed that Jamal Musiala will be out for an extended period due to a leg fracture. The injury occurred after a collision with Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma during the Club World Cup quarter-final match. Musiala, who returned to Munich from Florida on Sunday morning, will undergo surgery. According to Bayern’s statement, doctors diagnosed Musiala with “a fibula fracture [a bone in the lower leg] associated with an ankle dislocation”.

This serious injury and the long absence are a real shock for Jamal and for all of us.

Eberl added that the club will provide all the necessary support to Musiala during his recovery. “Jamal has just returned from an injury and will now be out for another long period. He will receive everything he needs from us. We will support him intensely, we will be by his side and we are already looking forward to his return to the field.” Meanwhile, Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer criticized Donnarumma’s action.

A situation where you don’t have to go in like that. That’s risky. Be willing to take the risk of injuring your opponent.

Neuer also commented that Donnarumma approached Musiala to express his good wishes. “I went to see him and said: ‘Don’t you want to go see our player?’ It’s right to go and wish the boy the best. In the end he did it. Justice is always important. … I would have reacted differently.” PSG player Donnarumma posted a photo on Instagram showing his regret after the injury and sent a message to Musiala: “All my prayers and good wishes are with you.”
