The regional director of Education, Dominga Mosquea Sosa, confirmed that the educational centers under her responsibility are ready to welcome an enrollment of 523,000 students. During the official opening ceremony of the 2026-2027 school year, held at the Espejo La Milagrosa Primary School in Boca Chica, the official urged families to ensure student attendance from the very first day of classes.
Mosquea Sosa highlighted that, after two months of intensive work focused on six strategic axes, the regional office is prepared to provide quality service. These interventions included the training of teaching and administrative staff, as well as a rigorous preventive and corrective maintenance plan for school infrastructure to ensure safe environments.
In our regional office, we are more ready than ever. Let them come to their center; we are waiting for them with open arms.

Call for active participation
The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, led the event together with the Minister of Education, Luis Miguel De Camps. During his speech, the president encouraged students to be curious, participate actively in the classroom, and discover their talents during this new academic cycle.
Likewise, the president emphasized the importance of the role of parents in the teaching-learning process, underlining that family support is an irreplaceable pillar for educational success. For his part, Minister De Camps reaffirmed the government’s commitment to educational quality and dismissed the versions circulating about an alleged lack of school spots for Dominicans due to the assignment of places to foreigners, describing such accusations as unfounded.
