Punta Bergantín inaugurates its Welcome Center and boosts the tourism future of Puerto Plata
The inauguration of the Welcome Center in Punta Bergantín marks a fundamental milestone for the development of the Dominican north coast. This space not only represents the first physical infrastructure of the ambitious project, but also symbolizes the beginning of a concrete execution phase aimed at transforming the economic and tourism landscape of the region, consolidating the vision of the so-called New North.
Andrés Marranzini Grullón, executive director of Punta Bergantín, emphasized during the ceremony that the initiative’s current focus is on measurable results. According to Marranzini, the goal is to accelerate infrastructure construction, attract international brands, and foster investments that restore Puerto Plata to the prominence it deserves in the national tourism sector.
The Welcome Center represents much more than the opening of a physical space; it marks the moment when the vision of Punta Bergantín begins to become tangible. We are entering an execution phase, in which we will see infrastructure rise, new investments join, and projects advance to generate opportunities.

Institutional support and strategic vision
The project has the firm support of key sectors. Leonardo Aguilera, executive president of Banreservas, ratified the entity’s commitment to this initiative, ensuring that they will continue to provide the necessary financial and strategic backing to guarantee its success. This institutional support is seen as a fundamental pillar for the sustainability and growth of the project.
For his part, the Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza, highlighted the importance of the synergy between Punta Bergantín and the construction of the Ámbar highway. Both projects are considered key pieces to strengthen the region’s connectivity, facilitating the arrival of capital, the revitalization of the local economy, and the massive creation of jobs.
