The countdown begins for the XIII National Women’s Superior Basketball Tournament
The Dominican Federation of Clubs (Fedoclubes) has launched preparations for the thirteenth edition of the National Women’s Superior Basketball Tournament, an event that promotes the message of “No Gender Violence.” The opening date is scheduled for next Thursday, September 24, marking the beginning of a competition that promises to raise the level of women’s sports in the country.
On this occasion, the tournament will feature the participation of 11 high-level teams, who will compete for the prestigious Seaboard “Clean Energy” Cup. The teams have been divided into two strategic groups for the development of the regular phase.
Distribution of the groups
The competition has been structured as follows:
- Group A: Águilas de Guachupita (current champions), Laguneras de San Cristóbal, Turistas del Este, Pioneras de Maimón, and Leñeras de Los Mina.
- Group B: Cinco Esquinas of the San Carlos club, Élites de Yamasá, Pueblo Nuevo de Villa Duarte, Cañeras de La Romana, Caribes de Santo Domingo Norte, and Dinámicas de Los Alcarrizos.
National scope and organization
Roberto Ramírez, president of Fedoclubes, led the inaugural meeting of the Organizing Committee together with the delegates of the participating clubs in the event hall of the San Carlos club. During the meeting, Ramírez highlighted the relevance of this tournament, which manages to integrate talent from seven provinces, including San Cristóbal, El Seibo, Monseñor Nouel, Monte Plata, La Romana, as well as the Metropolitan Zone and the Province of Santo Domingo.
This tournament is not only a showcase for female talent in basketball, but also a fundamental platform to promote values and eradicate gender-based violence in our society.

The logistics and coordination of the event are supported by the delegates of each franchise, including Luis Rojas, Karina Lorenzo, Edward Sánchez, Carmen Casado, Ernesto Del Rosario, Ramón Guzmán, José Pérez, Domingo De la Rosa, and Taisha Araújo, who work together to ensure the success of this new edition of women’s superior basketball.
