Reinas del Caribe start their title defense with authority in the Norceca Qualifier
The Queens of the Caribbean have begun their participation in the Norceca Women’s Volleyball Championship Qualifier with absolute dominance. In their debut this Friday, the Dominican team secured a resounding three-set-to-zero victory against the Costa Rican national team, making their goal of retaining the regional crown clear.
The match, which was decided in just 54 minutes, showed a marked superiority of the Dominicans, who sealed the sets with scores of 25-11, 25-11, and 25-10. Despite having a large part of their starting roster on the bench, the young talent of the Dominican team responded more than adequately to the demands of the tournament.
Offensive led by emerging talent
Outside hitter Flormarie Heredia was the star of the day, leading the national offense with a total of 18 points, all achieved through effective attacks. She was joined by Alondra Tapia and Massiel Matos, who contributed 16 and 14 points respectively, demonstrating the depth of the Dominican bench.

The technical superiority was evidenced in the records, where the Dominican Republic surpassed Costa Rica 44-12 in attacks and 14-0 in service aces, in addition to dominating the net with a 6-2 in blocks.
For the Costa Rican team, María del Sol Venegas tried to lead the response with five points, followed by María Sofía Arroyo and Lakysha Thompson, although it was not enough to stop the pace set by the locals. The definitive victory was secured in the third set, after an effective serve by Yaneiris Rodríguez that closed the final score.
Next commitment
After this successful debut, the Queens of the Caribbean are preparing for their next challenge in the competition. The Dominican team will return to the court this Saturday, August 22, to face the Cuban national team in a match scheduled for 8:30 p.m., where they will seek to maintain their undefeated record in the qualifying phase.
