Zlatan Ibrahimovic Defends Messi After Inter Miami’s Defeat

The renowned footballer Zlatan Ibrahimovic defended Lionel Messi after Inter Miami’s elimination from the Club World Cup. Ibrahimovic, who shared the field with Messi at Barcelona, harshly criticized the performance of the American team and compared Messi’s teammates to “statues”.

Inter Miami suffered a resounding 4-0 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain, a club Messi previously faced. Ibrahimovic held nothing back and expressed his disappointment with the Miami team’s performance, especially after the four goals conceded in the first half of the match.

It wasn’t Leo Messi who lost, it was Inter Miami. Messi plays with statues, not with teammates. He is surrounded by players who run as if they were carrying bags of cement.

Ibrahimovic argued that the fans couldn’t see the best version of Messi at the Club World Cup due to the lack of talent at Inter Miami. According to the former Swedish striker, Messi needs to be on a real team to unleash his full potential.

This is not the Messi I know. If you put him in a real team, he would give everything. There are no coaches, no stars, not even players who understand how to move without the ball. If he were on a real team, on any great team, you would see the real lion.

Despite the defeat, Messi, winner of eight Ballon d’Or awards, preferred to focus on the positive aspects. Inter Miami, which defeated Porto 2-1 in the group stage, made history by being the first MLS team to defeat a European club in official competition and the only one from MLS to advance to the knockout phase of the tournament. It was the match we were expecting. We tried to do our best and left a good impression at the Club World Cup level.
