Coercive measure hearing against Nino Dollar postponed following legal challenges
The hearing to hear the request for a coercive measure against Carlos José Troche Rodríguez, popularly known as Nino Dollar, was postponed until this Saturday. The judicial process seeks to clarify the events that occurred after the tragic accident on Abraham Lincoln Avenue, where Wilmer Rodríguez and his daughter, Wilkaren Rodríguez, lost their lives.
The victims’ defense, led by lawyer Yoani Linares, requested a postponement in order to thoroughly study the file presented by the Public Prosecutor’s Office. The plaintiff party has shown strong opposition to the current legal classification of the case, which has been categorized as involuntary manslaughter.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office has provided a disproportionate legal classification. We are facing a scenario that, in our view, constitutes voluntary manslaughter, given that the driver was aware that one of the victims was under the vehicle and, even so, continued moving.

Case details and claim for justice
The incident, recorded in the early hours of August 15, has caused deep consternation. According to the testimonies presented by the affected party, Nino Dollar allegedly ignored the victims’ situation, dragging them even after noticing that one of them remained trapped under the vehicle. Following the event, the accused voluntarily surrendered to the authorities at the Centro del Automovilista on August 17.
Outside the Ciudad Nueva Courthouse, family members and loved ones of the deceased gathered to demand that the case be treated with the severity the incident deserves. The protesters reject the idea that this should be considered a simple traffic accident and are calling for an exemplary punishment.
