FEDOM approves ambitious development plan for Dominican baseball
The Dominican Baseball Federation (FEDOM) has taken a transcendental step for the future of this sport in the country. During its recent General Assembly, the Baseball Development Plan in the Dominican Republic was officially approved, a comprehensive strategy that will be financed thanks to the funds obtained by the national team’s outstanding participation in the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
The main objective of this initiative is to strengthen baseball structures nationwide, providing direct support to provincial associations and the National District. The investment will focus on the development of new talent, the training of leaders, and the strengthening of the clubs and athletes that form the foundation of our discipline.
Institutional support and future vision
The meeting featured the presence of key figures from the sports field, including Nelson González, representative of World Baseball Classic Inc.; executives from the MLB Players Association (MLBPA) such as Miguel Batista, Francisco Cordero, and Ismael Granadillo; as well as Henry González, Director of International Operations for Major League Baseball. Also notable was the participation of Nelson Cruz, who served as general manager of the Dominican team in the world tournament.
We are very pleased with the approval of this plan, as it represents a direct investment in the future of Dominican baseball and its funding will come from the prize obtained by the country based on the collective effort of our national team in the 2026 World Baseball Classic.

Financial strategy and work commissions
To ensure the sustainability of the project, the Assembly authorized the creation of a one-million-dollar fixed-term deposit for a period of two years. The returns generated by this fund will be reinvested exclusively in expanding the scope of the development program.
To ensure transparency and efficiency in execution, two specialized commissions were established:
- Evaluation and Disbursement Commission: In charge of supervising the projects presented by the associations, composed of Eriberto Miranda, Joselito Cano, Arturo Brito, Eligna Rodríguez, and Bruno Terrero.
- National Organization Commission: Responsible for the registration and signing of athletes, leagues, and clubs, composed of José Sena, Cristian Pimentel, Alnord Padilla, Sandy Lara, and Roberto Sánchez.
Strategic alliances and new horizons
In addition to the sporting measures, the FEDOM ratified an eight-year extension to its collaboration agreement with the Panorama Media Group. Likewise, the federation gave the green light to the rental of a new headquarters in Santo Domingo and approved the work calendar for the national tournaments and the international commitments that the various Dominican national teams will face.
With these decisions, the FEDOM board reaffirms its commitment to the sustained growth of baseball, ensuring that resources reach every corner of the national territory for the benefit of the future stars of the diamond.
