Santiago and Aguadilla strengthen ties to bolster municipal management

The mayor of Santiago de los Caballeros, Ulises Rodríguez, held a strategic meeting this Thursday with his counterpart from Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, Julio Roldán. The meeting’s main objective was to explore avenues for cooperation and strengthen institutional ties between both cities through the exchange of knowledge and public management experiences.

During the dialogue, Rodríguez emphasized that the key to optimizing the quality of life for citizens lies in mutual learning. The councilman from Santiago highlighted the relevance of capitalizing on the best municipal administration practices to raise the standards of the services offered to the population.

I believe that certainly the most important thing is to take advantage of your experience in that exchange, ours, and to be able to provide a better service to our people, to our citizens.

For his part, the mayor of Aguadilla, Julio Roldán, expressed his gratitude for the hospitality received in Santiago and formalized his interest in promoting an official twinning between both jurisdictions. According to Roldán, this strategic alliance would facilitate the execution of joint projects aimed at the progress and well-being of their respective communities.

Towards an international collaboration model

The municipal executive of Aguadilla highlighted the importance of this approach, underscoring that the initiatives developed in Santiago represent a valuable source of learning for his administration. Roldán expressed his enthusiasm for implementing the knowledge acquired in this exchange of experiences.

Returning once again to Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, to establish a sister city partnership here with the mayor and continue the progress of both cities. I have much to learn from all these wonderful things we have discussed here.

This meeting marks the beginning of a possible roadmap to establish permanent collaboration mechanisms between Santiago de los Caballeros and Aguadilla.
