José Ramírez, out of the lineup after being hit
The Cleveland Guardians’ star player, José Ramírez, was not included in the starting lineup for Friday’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals. The reason is a right forearm discomfort, the result of being hit by a pitch the previous day. The incident occurred during Thursday’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays. Kevin Gausman was the pitcher who hit the Dominican slugger in the fourth inning. In the previous entry, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was also hit by a pitch from Tanner Bibee, which led to his exit from the game due to similar discomfort in the forearm. This is the third time Ramírez has missed a game in the 2025 season, and the first since May 3rd.Manager Stephen Vogt expressed optimism about a possible return of the player for Saturday’s game. Ramírez, 31 years old, continues to prove to be one of the most complete players in baseball. Currently, his batting average is .317, ranking sixth in Major League Baseball. In addition, he has stolen 21 bases, which also places him in sixth place in MLB. The Dominican is one of the finalists to be a starter in the American League in the next All-Star Game, which will be held on July 15 at Truist Park in Atlanta. His offensive consistency and leadership have kept him among the favorites to be part of the event. The club will closely monitor the evolution of Ramírez’s injury, hoping it is not serious and does not compromise his participation in the mid-season classic. We’re going to evaluate it day by day. The idea is that he can be back as soon as possible.
