Bryce Harper Nears Return with the Phillies

Phillies’ first baseman Bryce Harper continues his recovery process after an injury to his right wrist and has already faced live pitches at Truist Park. Harper was placed on the 10-day injured list on June 6th. Despite this, he traveled with the team to Atlanta and participated in a morning workout before Saturday night’s game against the Braves.

“It was great. It seemed like he got his bat speed back and his timing looked good,” said Philadelphia manager Rob Thomson.

Thomson also reported that Harper will not be in the field on Sunday. The game on Saturday was the 21st consecutive that Harper missed due to the injury. During this period, the Phillies have an 11-9 record without Harper, who is batting .258 with nine home runs in 57 games this season. Harper is expected to be able to rejoin the team next week, when the Phillies host the Padres and Reds for three-game series each.
