Aaron Pico Debuts in the UFC against Movsar Evloev
Aaron Pico’s highly anticipated UFC debut is scheduled for July 26th, where he will face Movsar Evloev in a five-round bout. This exciting featherweight (145 lbs) match will be the co-main event of the UFC Fight Night held at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The card will be headlined by a middleweight clash between Robert Whittaker and Reinier de Ridder.
Pico, with a record of 13-4, has developed his entire professional career outside of the UFC so far. He signed a development contract with Bellator MMA in 2014, three years before his official debut. In his last ten fights, he has achieved an impressive record of 9-1 and was in line to contend for the featherweight title in Bellator when the promotion was acquired by the PFL earlier this year.
In his first UFC appearance, Pico will face a formidable opponent. Evloev, from Russia, holds an undefeated record of 19-0 over more than a decade of competition and is currently ranked number 4 in the UFC featherweight rankings. Evloev would likely have already fought for the UFC championship, but he has had difficulty securing high-profile opportunities, partly due to his high decision rate. Evloev’s nine UFC victories have come by decision.
The winner of this fight will position themselves as a strong contender for a future UFC title opportunity. The current champion, Alexander Volkanovski, has not yet scheduled his next title defense.
