Antonelli Conquers the Canadian Grand Prix and Consolidates His Lead

Montreal – Andrea Kimi Antonelli, the young Italian talent, confirmed his excellent form in the 2026 season by dominating the Canadian Grand Prix. The fifth race of the Formula One World Championship, held at the Gilles Villeneuve circuit, witnessed his triumph this Sunday. The Mercedes driver, at just 19 years old, secured his fourth consecutive victory, solidifying his position at the top of the championship and consolidating his position as one of the emerging stars in the world of motorsport. Antonelli crossed the finish line ahead of the British Lewis Hamilton, who achieved his best result since joining Ferrari, and the Dutchman Max Verstappen, who completed the podium representing Red Bull. The race was marked by several important retirements. George Russell, Antonelli’s teammate at Mercedes and who had started from ‘pole position’, was forced to retire on lap 28 due to mechanical problems while leading the competition. Also retired were Spaniard Fernando Alonso, who suffered issues with the seat of his Aston Martin, and Mexican Sergio Pérez, after a failure in the front suspension of his Cadillac. The Argentinian Franco Colapinto continued to demonstrate his progress, achieving his best result in Formula 1 by finishing in sixth position with Alpine. On the other hand, Spaniard Carlos Sainz Jr. achieved a comeback after a complicated start, finishing ninth and scoring valuable points for Williams. With this victory, Antonelli accumulates 131 points in the overall standings, increasing his lead over Russell and strengthening his bid for the world title. The Italian will arrive as leader at the next race in Monaco, where he will seek to maintain his impressive winning streak.
