Ivan Herrera, of the Cardinals, Out with Hamstring Injury
St. Louis Cardinals catcher and designated hitter Ivan Herrera will be out of action for two to six weeks due to a Grade 2 strain in his left hamstring, he told reporters on Friday. Herrera, 25 years old, was placed on the 10-day injured list on Friday, a day after suffering the injury during the first game of a doubleheader against the Chicago White Sox. This is his second time on the injured list this season. So far this season, Herrera is batting .320 with eight home runs and 36 RBIs in 42 games. For his part, Herrera remains optimistic about the injury. It’s unfortunate. He’s been doing a very good job, with a very hot bat. He’s a real threat on offense. We’re going to miss him.

“…It’s just another stone in my path, and I feel like I’m going to come back stronger.”It could be worse. It could be all year… I’m still going to be able to play a lot of games. That’s positive. I’m going to keep working hard to come back stronger every day I’m here.
