Carolina Hurricanes and Seattle Kraken to Face Off in Finland for the NHL Global Series
The NHL announced this Monday that the Carolina Hurricanes and the Seattle Kraken will play two games in Finland as part of the NHL Global Series next season.
The teams will face off in the Finnish capital, Helsinki, on November 12 and 14. It will be the first time the Kraken travel abroad in their sixth season, while for the Hurricanes it will be the second time and the first since 2010.
Both teams have Finnish players on their rosters. The Hurricanes have Sebastian Aho and Jesperi Kotkaniemi, while the Kraken have Kaapo Kakko and Eeli Tolvanen. Everyone, except Tolvanen, is under contract for next season.
The NHL has held 42 regular season games in Europe since 2007, and has two more scheduled for December in Germany, where Ottawa and Chicago will play in Düsseldorf.
The Veikkaus Arena in Helsinki, formerly known as Hartwall Arena, has been the venue for seven of these games, the most recent in 2018 between Florida and Winnipeg.
