In an exciting golf tournament, Steven Alker was crowned champion of the Cologuard Classic for the second consecutive year, demonstrating his skill and perseverance on the course. Alker defeated Padraig Harrington in a playoff, sealing his victory with a birdie on the first hole. The competition, held under intense heat, kept spectators on the edge of their seats. This year’s victory marks the eleventh time Alker has won in 100 appearances on the PGA Tour Champions.

The experienced golfer, 54 years old, overcame an initial nine-stroke deficit after a first round with a score of 71. His performance improved significantly on Saturday, with an impressive card of 62 strokes, which put him only two strokes behind the lead.

I just made some simple mistakes in the first round. A couple of three putts and missed some greens here and there, and they were silly things. I fixed it. I knew my game was in good shape.

Alker finished the tournament with a round of 65 strokes, establishing a total of 15 under par (198 strokes). Harrington, who played in the final group alongside Alker, faltered on the 18th hole, missing a key putt and finishing in a tiebreaker. In the tiebreaker, both players managed to position themselves on the left side of the 18th hole fairway. Alker, with a masterful shot from 135 yards, set the stage for his winning putt.

In the end, everything went well. My hundredth participation, something really special. I had no idea. It’s gone by so fast, I’m having a great time here. Winning here again is quite special.
