The Queens of the Caribbean Achieve a Resounding Victory against Belgium in the Nations League

Istanbul, Turkey. The Queens of the Caribbean shone this Thursday by defeating Belgium with a score of 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 27-25), securing their first sweep victory in the current edition of the FIVB Volleyball Nations League.

This triumph raises the Dominican team’s record to 3-3 in this second week of the tournament, which is being held in Istanbul. After a defeat against Turkey and another against Japan, this victory revitalizes the team’s confidence.

Domination from the First Set

Under the direction of Marcos Kwiek, the Dominican team displayed their best game from the start. The solid defense, effective blocks, and precise distribution by setter Ariana Rodríguez were key to controlling the first two sets. A 7-0 rally in the first set was crucial in establishing a decisive lead. In the second set, Brayelin Martínez and Yonkaira Peña led a forceful and precise attack. Although Belgium reacted in the third set, equalizing the score on several occasions, the Caribbean women remained calm. Yonkaira Peña and Gaila González secured the victory with powerful attacks and a crucial block at the final point.
