Luka Dončić and Anamaria Goltes: End of a Relationship and Custody Battle

Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Dončić has announced his separation from his fiancée, Anamaria Goltes. The news, confirmed by sources close to the player, also reveals a legal battle for the custody of their two daughters.

“I love my daughters more than anything and I have been doing everything possible to have them with me in the United States during the season, but that has not been possible, so I recently made the difficult decision to end my engagement,” declared Dončić.

The situation has taken a legal turn, as Goltes filed a petition seeking child support and attorney’s fees. According to sources close to Dončić, the petition was filed in California. The player, who signed a three-year, $165 million contract extension with the Lakers in August, claims he has always provided for his family. Dončić and Goltes, fashion and fitness model, got engaged in July 2023, after knowing each other since childhood and starting dating in 2016. Their first daughter, Gabriela, was born in November 2023 in the United States, while Dončić was playing for the Dallas Mavericks. Their second daughter, Olivia, was born in December in Slovenia, months after his transfer to the Lakers. The absence of Dončić from the team at the beginning of the season was due to his trip to Slovenia for the birth of Olivia, missing games against the Toronto Raptors and the Boston Celtics. During his visit, Dončić expressed his desire to take Gabriela back to the United States. However, a disagreement with Goltes led to her calling the police. The officers, after interviewing both parties, found no evidence of any crime. Dončić returned to the United States that same day. Since then, he has not seen his daughters or Goltes. After the game against the Sixers, Dončić described his trip to Slovenia as “a roller coaster.” Last week, Goltes deleted all photos with Dončić from her Instagram account, fueling speculation about the state of the relationship. On February 26, Dončić filed a request for immediate contact with Gabriela and Olivia before the Slovenian courts. Since arriving at the Lakers’ training camp on September 26, he has only seen his daughters for two days. In his first full season with the Lakers, the 2.03-meter point guard averages 32.5 points, 8.4 assists, and 7.8 rebounds, leading the league in scoring. The Lakers (39-25) hosted the Minnesota Timberwolves (40-24) on Tuesday night.
