Spotify Camp Nou Expands Capacity to 62,000 Spectators
Barcelona – The Spotify Camp Nou, in the midst of its remodeling process, has obtained the first occupancy license. This permit will allow the stadium to host matches with a capacity of up to 62,000 fans. The Barcelona City Council granted this license, which corresponds to phase 1c of the FC Barcelona stadium modernization project, located in the Les Corts neighborhood. With this new authorization, the provisional capacity of the stadium will increase by approximately 17,000 seats, exceeding the current capacity of 45,000 spectators. The license covers the opening of the two amphitheaters located in the north goal sector of the enclosure. It adds to the permits already granted for phases 1a and 1b, which included the grandstand, side, and south goal areas in the first stands. Thanks to this expansion, next Sunday’s league match against Sevilla FC will be able to count on a greater attendance. This event coincides with the elections for the presidency of the Catalan club. When the renovation works are completely finished, the stadium will have a capacity close to 105,000 spectators, establishing itself as one of the largest sports venues in Europe. In addition, the club plans to enable about 14,000 new season tickets for members in the north goal area, as well as about 1,200 seats in the south goal sector, intended for the animation space of the fans. The acting president of the club, Rafael Yuste, highlighted the authorization as great news for the institution.
