Landeskog, Avalanche captain, Out with Injury

Colorado Avalanche hockey team captain Gabriel Landeskog will be out of the game due to a lower-body injury, the team announced on Sunday. Landeskog’s injury, which will keep him under weekly observation, occurred during the team’s shootout victory against the Dallas Stars last Friday. In that game, the 33-year-old player managed an assist.

“It’s a lower-body injury, and it’s not comfortable,” Colorado coach Jared Bednar said, according to NHL.com.

Landeskog had already been out of action for more than a month due to a similar injury earlier this season. However, he managed to recover in time to represent Sweden at the Winter Olympics held in Italy last month. In the current season, Landeskog has nine goals and 20 assists in 47 games with the Colorado Avalanche. The team secured a 3-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild on Sunday, in a matchup between two of the four teams with the most points in the NHL.
