The President of the European Council, António Costa, presented former United States President Donald Trump with a Portugal national team jersey signed by Cristiano Ronaldo.
The gesture took place during the Group of Seven summit held in Canada.
Costa, of Portuguese nationality and President of the European Council since 2024, arrived in Kananaskis, Alberta, on Monday.
In a private audience that same day, Costa gave Trump the number 7 jersey, autographed by Cristiano Ronaldo.
The inscription on the t-shirt, read aloud by the former Portuguese Prime Minister, said: “For President Donald J. Trump, playing for peace”.

Cristiano Ronaldo, winner of five Ballon d’Ors and currently 40 years old, is the all-time top scorer at the national team level, with 138 goals.
Recently, Ronaldo captained Portugal to win the UEFA Nations League title.
The Al Nassr striker is expected to participate with Portugal in the next World Cup, which will be held in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
