Dominican Republic Open – Cap Cana Cup: A World-Class Tennis Event
Santo Domingo – The second edition of the Dominican Republic Open – Copa Cap Cana ATP Challenger 175, which will be held from March 9 to 15, 2026, promises to consolidate the country as a benchmark in the international professional tennis circuit.
The announcement was made during a press conference at the JW Marriott hotel, led by Fernando Hazoury, president of the Board of Directors of Cap Cana, and the Minister of Tourism, David Collado. Both highlighted the growth and projection of the event.
Cap Cana has been the scene of important international sporting events and that the tournament represents an integral experience that involves athletes, fans, families and the tourism sector.

Hazoury reported that the tournament will increase its prize money to $300,000 and will feature players ranked within the top 100 in the world ranking.
Sports tourism is a fundamental axis in the country’s diversification strategy and expressed its confidence that the tournament will consolidate as one of the most relevant in the region.

Technological Innovation and International Support
The 2026 edition will incorporate the BOLT 6 electronic arbitration system, used at the Wimbledon Championships 2025, making the tournament one of the few Challenger 175s to implement this technology without line judges. This measure reinforces transparency and precision in each match.
The sports complex, valued at approximately three million dollars, has six hard courts within an area of 24,000 square meters, built to the standards required by the ATP.
Strategically located between the Indian Wells Masters 1000 and the Miami Open, the tournament offers similar conditions of climate, surface and official balls, becoming an ideal stop for the preparation of the players.
Confirmed Figures
A total of 21 tennis players have already confirmed their participation, including Hubert Hurkacz (Poland), Roberto Bautista Agut (Spain), Cristian Garin (Chile), Tomás Martín Etcheverry (Argentina), Alexandre Muller (France) and Mariano Navone (Argentina).
In its first edition in 2025, the event brought together around 80 players within the world’s top 100 and received more than 18,000 visitors, generating a positive impact on the hotel, gastronomy, and service sectors, as well as creating more than 800 direct and indirect jobs.
Inclusion and Sustainability
The tournament will hold an exhibition match with athletes from the Paralympic Committee and will maintain universal accessibility standards, with infrastructure adapted for people with disabilities.
In environmental matters, measures will be implemented to reduce single-use plastics, hydration stations with reusable cups, recycling through separation containers, and collaboration with the “Bottles of Love” program. In addition, 100% of the water used will be treated and reused in landscaping, complemented by the planting of native plants.
Training initiatives such as the Kids Clinic and School Day will be strengthened in 2026, reaffirming the commitment to the development of national tennis.
With this second edition, the Dominican Republic continues to position itself as a strategic hub in the Caribbean for sports tourism, raising its organizational and competitive standards globally.
