Oleksandr Usyk Relaunches His Promotion Company with Ambitious Plans
The unified heavyweight champion, Oleksandr Usyk, has reactivated his promotional company with the firm intention of organizing a boxing tournament in Kyiv, Ukraine, during the spring. The “Usyk17” group, which operated since 2020, was forced to suspend its activities following the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. Now, Usyk and his team are stepping up their plans, focusing on the development of the next generation of Ukrainian boxers.Usyk has been a fervent defender of his country since the invasion. His Usyk Foundation supports and donates funds to the army, and both he and boxer Vasiliy Lomachenko joined a territorial defense battalion after the invasion. Now, the three-time undisputed champion seeks to contribute to the development of future boxing stars.“Usyk17 is back. This spring in Kyiv, we want to organize a big tournament, which we will announce at a later date,” Usyk declared. “Exclusively, these boxers will be young Ukrainian prospects and we will help them achieve their goals. We will do everything in our power for the growth of new champions in our country.”
