Nikola Jokic ready to return to action with the Nuggets
Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic is expected to return to the court this Friday night against the Los Angeles Clippers, after being out since December 29 due to a bone contusion in his left knee. This was reported by sources close to him.
Jokic is officially listed as questionable for the game.
Jokic is also expected to participate in Sunday’s matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder in Denver, which would make him eligible for season awards such as MVP and All-NBA.
The 6-foot-11-inch center was injured in the first part of Denver’s defeat to the Miami Heat in December. Before that, he was in fifth place in the NBA in scoring, with 29.6 points per game. He also has 16 triple-doubles this season, leading the league in this statistic.
Jokic also averages career highs in assists per game (11.0) and three-point percentage (43%).
The Nuggets achieved a 10-6 record in Jokic’s absence over the last month and a bit more. Those 16 games are the most he has missed in any season of his career.
