Neymar Extends Contract with Santos Until 2026

The Brazilian star Neymar has signed a contract extension that will keep him at Santos until the end of 2026. The announcement was made by the player himself through the club’s social media.

2025 was a special and challenging year for me, a moment of joy and overcoming obstacles that I could only face thanks to your love. 2026 has arrived and the destiny couldn’t be different. Santos is my place. Here I am at home, safe and happy. And it is with you that I want to achieve the rest of my dreams.

Neymar, 33 years old, returned to the club that saw him born in football last January. Despite injuries and the fight to avoid relegation in the Brazilian Serie A, the player was fundamental for the team to manage to stay in the top category in the last matches of the season. On December 22, Santos reported that Neymar, who has suffered several knee injuries in recent years, underwent a successful minor operation on his left knee. He has not played with Brazil since suffering an anterior cruciate ligament rupture during the World Cup qualifiers in October 2023. The former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain player still hopes to be part of the Brazilian national team for this summer’s World Cup, and coach Carlo Ancelotti has repeatedly said that Neymar would be considered for the team if he is fully fit. Neymar scored 11 goals in 34 appearances for Santos after joining the team in early 2025, and was a key contributor in helping the team avoid relegation from the top flight at the end of the season. Santos will start playing in the São Paulo State Championship on January 10th and will start the league in the Brazilian Serie A on January 28th against Chapecoense.
