Trae Young and the Hawks exploring trade options
The Atlanta Hawks’ star point guard, Trae Young, and his agent, Aaron Mintz, are collaborating with the franchise to explore the possibility of a trade, according to sources close to the situation.
Conversations between Young’s representatives and Hawks general manager Onsi Saleh have been positive and collaborative over the past week, with the goal of finding a mutually beneficial solution.
The dialogue about Young’s future has been constant between the Hawks and his agents over the past few months, since the franchise decided not to offer a contract extension to the 27-year-old player.
Young has two seasons remaining and a total of 95 million dollars left on his current contract, with a player option available in the offseason.
Young has been absent for the last five games, including Monday’s game in Toronto, due to a right quadriceps contusion. The player has also dealt with residual pain in his leg after returning from a right medial collateral ligament sprain that kept him off the courts for seven weeks earlier in the season.
