Wrestlepalooza: A Mixed Bag Event in the WWE Universe
The recent WWE event, Wrestlepalooza, marked the beginning of a new era of premium live events. The event, which took place at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, offered a mixed card with exciting matches and others that did not meet expectations. The stellar event featured the highly anticipated match between John Cena and Brock Lesnar, as well as the crowning of a new Women’s World Champion and the return of a legend to the ring.Analysis of Featured Fights
Here’s an analysis of the most relevant Wrestlepalooza matches, evaluating their quality based on narrative, in-ring performance, and overall entertainment.Women’s World Championship: Iyo Sky vs. Stephanie Vaquer
Result: Vaquer defeated Sky by pinfall.Rating: B+
This match was an exceptional demonstration of two of WWE’s best female wrestlers. The first half was a game of strategy where counterattacks were key. Vaquer focused on attacking Sky’s knee, gaining an advantage. Sky responded with knee strikes and a Spanish Fly, but her knee prevented her from completing an Over The Moonsault, allowing Vaquer to execute a Spinal Tap for the victory. A must-see match.Tag Team Match: The Usos vs. The Vision
Mixed Tag Team Match: CM Punk and AJ Lee vs. Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch
Result: Punk and Lee defeated Rollins and Lynch by submission.Rating: C Mixed fights are difficult to execute, prioritizing entertainment. Rollins and Lynch tried to keep Lee out of the match, but everything changed when Punk tagged her in. Lee, after a decade of absence, showed her skill. The match had chaotic moments, including finisher attempts and Sharpshooters. The end came when Lynch threw Lee from a commentary table. Lee caught Lynch with her Black Widow for the submission. Although the match lasted almost 30 minutes, it was exciting to see Lee back. The next step could be a Lee challenge for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship.Undisputed WWE Championship: Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre
Result: Rhodes defeated McIntyre by pinfall.Rating: CThe main event, surprisingly short, failed to reach its full potential. Rhodes, affected by a head injury, fought against McIntyre. McIntyre’s leg injury, after a failed Claymore, opened the door for Rhodes to apply the Cross Rhodes for the victory. This match seemed more suitable for a SmackDown event than for a premium event.
