Vince McMahon, Former WWE CEO, Involved in Car Accident in Connecticut

Former WWE CEO Vince McMahon was involved in a car accident on a Connecticut road, which resulted in significant damage to his Bentley and two other vehicles. The incident occurred hours before the news of the death of Hulk Hogan, a wrestling legend, whom McMahon had previously praised, was announced. According to state police reports, McMahon was cited for reckless driving and following too closely to the vehicle in front. The accident took place Thursday morning on the Merritt Parkway in Westport. Fortunately, there were no injuries in the incident. McMahon was released after posting a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on August 26. The accident was initially reported by TMZ. The photographs taken by Barbara Doran, one of the people involved in the accident, revealed the severe damage to the front of McMahon’s 2024 Bentley Continental GT Speed. Damage was also observed on the rear of Doran’s BMW 430. The police report indicates that McMahon was driving north on the highway, also known as Route 15, when he rear-ended the BMW and crashed into a wooden barrier. A vehicle traveling in the southbound lanes hit debris from the accident that flew over the barrier. The occupants of the vehicles involved did not suffer injuries and all drivers were wearing seatbelts. McMahon’s car airbags deployed, while Doran’s did not.
Vince McMahon's 2024 Bentley Continental GT Speed sustained heavy front-end damage from last week's multi-car highway crash in Connecticut.
Doran, a New York City resident, recounted that she was driving in the right lane when she was hit by McMahon’s vehicle. The impact caused her car to go off the road.

I was in the right lane and suddenly, boom. I was hit from behind and catapulted forward and you can see the tire marks where I was desperately trying to stay on the road.

Doran also reported that a state police officer informed him that the other driver was McMahon, whom he did not know well. After the accident, they both talked.

He just, you know, expressed his concern, was glad I was okay and all that. And I thanked him for his concern.

McMahon resigned from his position as WWE CEO in 2022, amid an internal investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct. He also stepped down as executive chairman of the board of directors of TKO Group Holdings, WWE’s parent company, one day after a former WWE employee filed a sexual abuse lawsuit against him. McMahon has denied the allegations. The lawsuit is still pending. McMahon acquired the then World Wrestling Federation in 1982 and transformed it from a regional wrestling company into a global phenomenon. In addition to running the company with his wife, Linda, who is currently the U.S. Secretary of Education, he also participated in WWE events as himself.
