Vince McMahon Involved in Car Accident in Connecticut

Former WWE CEO Vince McMahon is in the spotlight after a car accident on a Connecticut highway. The incident, which involved his Bentley and two other vehicles, occurred hours before the news of the death of wrestling legend Hulk Hogan was announced. According to the state police report, McMahon was cited for reckless driving and following another vehicle too closely. The accident took place Thursday morning on the Merritt Parkway in Westport. Fortunately, there were no injuries. McMahon was released after posting a $500 bail and will have to appear before the Stamford Superior Court on August 26. The photos taken by one of the people involved in the accident, Barbara Doran, show significant damage to the front of McMahon’s 2024 Bentley Continental GT Speed, which was being towed. Damage was also observed on the rear of Doran’s BMW 430. The police report indicates that McMahon was driving north on the highway, also known as Route 15, when he rear-ended the BMW and then hit a wooden barrier. A vehicle traveling south struck debris from the accident that flew over the barrier. In the vehicles, there were no passengers, and all three drivers were wearing seatbelts. McMahon’s car airbags deployed, while Doran’s did not.

Doran added that a state police officer informed him that the other driver was McMahon, whom he did not know well. He also recounted that he spoke with McMahon after the accident.

“She just, you know, expressed her concern, was glad I was okay and all that. And I thanked her for her concern,” said Doran, 72.

McMahon stepped down as WWE CEO in 2022 amid an internal investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct. He also resigned as executive chairman of the board of directors of TKO Group Holdings, WWE’s parent company, last year, a day after a former WWE employee filed a sexual abuse lawsuit against him. McMahon has denied the allegations. The lawsuit is still pending. McMahon acquired the World Wrestling Federation in 1982, transforming it from a regional wrestling company into a global phenomenon. In addition to running the company with his wife, Linda, who is now the U.S. Secretary of Education, he also participated in WWE events as a wrestler.
